Gardening info!

Discover the new Garden Info section on our plant sheets for successful gardening.

You asked us for it… we’re working on it.

To help you succeed in all your green projects, we are gradually rolling out a new “Garden Info” section on our plant sheets.

Its objective? Giving you at a glance all the keys to know if a variety will find happiness at home, on your balcony or in your garden.

Here’s a preview of what you’ll find there:

👉 Origin: to know where the plant comes from, even if it has ended up adapting to the climate of your region.

👉 Hardiness: to assess the plant’s survival to the frost of your winters 🥶 The hardiness zone (or USDA zone for those in the know) generally divides the planet into 13 zones of minimum winter temperatures (from 1 for the North Pole to 13 for Francis Hallé’s world without winter). And for weather fanatics, each zone can be refined with a small “a” or “b”. Based on winter averages from 1976 to 2005, this score will prevent the unpleasant surprise of seeing your plants disappear at the first cold snap.

👉 Lifespan, habit and height: to organize your garden corner in time and space and anticipate the plant’s growth.

👉 Site requirements: to find the ideal location and provide your plant with the right soil, the right watering and the perfect exposure for effortless growth.

👉 Foliage and pruning: to anticipate its look throughout the seasons and know exactly when to get out the pruning shears.

👉 Biodiversity impact: to offer bees and butterflies a buffet of nectariferous plants (nectar to drink) and melliferous plants (pollen to collect).

👉 Conservation status: to garden ahead of time by checking the plant’s threat level according to the IUCN Red List and preserving the most vulnerable species.

  • EX: extinct
  • EW: extinct in the wild
  • CR: critically endangered
  • EN: endangered
  • VU: vulnerable
  • NT: near threatened
  • LC: least concern
  • DD: data deficient
  • NE: not evaluated
