News of June 2024!
What happened in June 2024 at Phyto-info… we tell you everything!
Hello everyone 🌿
Now that the rain has calmed down a little, we are finally heading for sunny days. A little vitamin D is good for everyone 🥰. The slugs, on the other hand, will not appreciate it, but hey, they will have enjoyed themselves throughout the months of March, April, May and June for a large number of departments in France. As a result, many gardens are in a pitiful state, not to say completely devoured by these hungry little mouths.
But what are slugs for?
Slugs are part of the soil ecosystem and are very useful in the garden. Oh, yes? And yes, it’s hard to believe it! Slugs are walking stomachs, they decompose organic matter such as fauna or flora that have fallen to the ground and transform it into mineral compounds that can be assimilated by plants. Slugs also eat diseased plants and pathogenic fungi, thus preventing the proliferation of diseases. They therefore keep the plants (which they do not eat) healthy and preserve good soil quality. Yes, yes!
To avoid damage, we make offerings to them that they cannot refuse. We can say that rapeseed is one of their favorite dishes, especially in early spring. They also don’t refuse carrot tops and cabbage leaves, which gives a head start to the little plants that we want to see grow 🥰
Update 👏
This month it is the turn of yarrow to be updated, going from 18 to 37 sources. Yarrow, called Master of the blood (The Mistress of Blood) by a contemporary American herbalist, is an excellent plant for women.
